and M*Modal are hosting Global Day of Code Retreat 2011 at their Squirrel Hill office, 1710 Murray Ave., from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. It’s part of a worldwide event. Anyone interested in participating in the free event just needs to register and its strictly, BYOL (Bring Your Own Laptop). Breakfast, however, will be provided.
Under the Code Retreat format, participants will be working on one project, in this case the Game of Life, and will focus on the fundamentals of coding and good design.
“The Global Day of Code Retreat is a unique event where Vivisimo can offer its headquarters as a central location for Pittsburgh-area software developers who want to hone their skills and collaborate with their peers,” said Jerome Pesenti, chief scientist and co-founder of Vivisimo, in a written statement.
It makes sense that these two companies would host such an event since they are both dependent on maintaining a strong pipeline of software developers to continue to drive their innovation. Vivisimo created a software platform that helps companies better manage, organize and search through big data, and M*Modal develops speech recognition software for the health care industry.
More than 2,000 developers in more than 80 cities are expected to participate in the worldwide event.
